Meet Kyle S. King

Kyle S. King is a seasoned educator, six-time published author, and professional speaker committed to empowering 100,000 students and professionals worldwide. He champions the power of authentic storytelling, believing that every story can transform teams, schools, and organizations.

Throughout his career, Kyle has guided leaders nationwide to start with heart and pursue perseverance, passion, and purpose. His diverse roles include Middle School ELA Teacher, Dean of Students, founder of an educational institution, and founder of The Writer’s Game, a publishing company dedicated to empowering educators and professionals through storytelling. Currently, he serves as the Director of School Culture and Student Advancement at Bonnie Cone Schools Network.

In this role, Kyle has seen how storytelling fosters strong leadership, enhances community engagement, and creates classroom cultures that inspire students to take ownership of their learning, resulting in remarkable academic achievements. He has spoken to audiences worldwide, transforming teams, schools, and organizations to embrace the Start With Heart philosophy.

Having battled depression, suicidal thoughts, and feelings of being unseen, Kyle found solace in journaling and discovered the power of writing his own story. He teaches that current circumstances do not dictate the future and encourages finding value in personal experiences to share with the world. Kyle's transformational speeches inspire audiences to recognize their worth, connect deeply with others, and create meaningful change in their communities.

Kyle’s Mission and Vision

Kyle has always been driven to positively impact the lives of the younger generation. From a young age, he felt a deep calling to inspire, educate, and empower emerging leaders. Like the students he mentors, Kyle broke new ground in his family by being the first to attend and graduate from college. It was during his time in college that he founded Project SHINE, a non-profit aimed at bridging the gap for high school students, providing them with the tools and knowledge they need to become leaders who can compete on a global scale.

After completing college, his passion for sharing knowledge led him to create the Mission Plan Book series, designed to guide students worldwide in discovering their identities and devising plans to achieve their dreams. This endeavor propelled him to become the youngest and first African American administrator within a Charter School Network in Charlotte, North Carolina. Recognizing that his influence could extend beyond traditional educational settings, he established The SHINE Institute, dedicated to assisting students in bridging the gap between their education and careers in entrepreneurship, technology, and real estate. Each of these initiatives aimed to cultivate future globally competitive leaders among students.

Kyle's enthusiasm for entrepreneurship and the art of storytelling has been pivotal in guiding students to explore and harness their own narratives, boost their self-assurance, discover their innate talents, and seize opportunities that have enabled over 100 students to pursue higher education across the country.

In addition to his ongoing efforts, Kyle is committed to achieving three major goals by the end of this year:

  • To help 10,000 students become authors by writing their first book.

  • To impact and empower 100,000 single fathers by providing them with resources and support to strengthen their roles in their children's lives.

  • To transform 1,000,000 students and educators through his signature "Start With Heart" Keynote, inspiring them to lead with empathy, purpose, and resilience.

“Nothing changes, until you first commit to changing the one within.”
